Welcome to the STFC Introductory Summer School in Astronomy 2012, at the University of Sussex
The School is aimed at STFC-funded postgraduate students who are beginning PhD studies in astronomy and space science in autumn 2012. Our programme of lectures will provide a comprehensive overview of astrophysics topics from Solar System and planetary physics, through stars and galaxies, and on to cosmology. There will be sessions on PhD skills, outreach, and career planning. A wide range of social events will enable students to build networks with those working on similar topics throughout the UK.
For STFC students attendance at the School is fully-funded, including travel and all meals, by STFC.
The School will be held from Sunday 2nd September - Friday 7th September 2012. There will be a welcome reception on the evening of Sunday 2nd September and the School will also feature a lively social programme.
Students should aim to arrive around 6pm on Sunday 2nd September. The School will end at lunchtime on Friday 7th September.
