Playing the Future
Wednesday 16 April 14:00 until 16:15
University of Sussex Campus : Sussex Humanities Lab, Silverstone Building, Arts Road, BN1 9RG
Part of the series: Immersing in Alternative Futures - series of events

Step into the world of Our Place, No Place, a tabletop role-playing game by David Blandy, where we imagine the complexities of a better future together. In this collaborative experience, we create a shared world by drawing a map and defining its landscapes, then step into the lives of characters who inhabit it. As we navigate a year in this imagined space, unexpected local events will shape our story and a community will emerge through play.
The game launches a monthly series of free art and design activities led by some of Britain’s most inspiring creators. Each session invites you to engage imaginatively with possible futures—both those we hope for and those we seek to avoid—exploring how creativity can help address urgent global challenges, such as climate care. Every session follows a unique path for a thought-provoking experience. There will be a chance to contribute to research as part of this.
