Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month and Sussex is taking part. Alongside our usual bitesize training and monthly staff hub article, we’ll be hosting a series of talks and events open to all University staff.
Event one - Cyber Escape Room challenge
- Date: Thursday 17 October
- Time: 11.00 to 2.00pm (it only takes 30 mins tops with some chat before and after!)
- Location: University of Sussex Library,Training Room - Library Ground Floor (on the left or ask at desk)
- Invited: All staff

In the first of a series of events to mark Cyber Security Awareness month staff are invited to come and test their detective skills by taking part in our Cyber Escape Room Challenge designed by Dr Katie Piatt – Head of Educational Enhancement. This fun event gives staff an opportunity to work in teams of two to solve cyber puzzles against the clock.
Event two - Cybercrime and the law

In this, the second of our series of events to celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Dr Jessica Shurson (Lecturer in Law) will explore the challenges of policing cybercrime and highlight the importance of effective cyber security and prevention.
This is an in-person event which we expect to last for around 25 minutes with an additional 15 minutes available for Q+A at the end of the session.

Event three – Cyber security health check in (drop in)
- Date: Wednesday 30 October
- Time: 2.30pm – 4pm
- Location: Ground Floor, Shawcross
- Invited: All staff and students

In this, our last event of the series, join the ITS team who will provide colleagues with a security health check focusing on identity and device security. If you’re worried about your laptop or devices being cyber safe or concerned that your passwords are not strong enough - this is your chance to speak to the experts and put your mind at rest.
