Several members of the TFMRC recently attended and participated at ASME Turbo Expo 2023: Turbomachinery Technical Conference & Exposition. The conference is one of the leading conferences in areas related to turbomachinery and took place between 26^th and 30^th June 2023 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA in the US.

Dr Mark Puttock-Brown presented the work from Emma Fox, who recently completed her PhD within the TFMRC, with a paper titled “Experimental Measurements of Flow-Average Toroidal Vorticies in Buoyancy-Dominated Rotating Cavities”.

Daniel Payne presented work from his PhD, supervised by Dr Vasudevan Kanjirakkad, with a paper titled “Experimental and Numerical Study of Purge Flow Effects in a HP Turbine Stage”.

Dr Martin White from the TFMRC, was also a co-author on three papers presented by PhD students that he co-supervised from City, University of London. The papers explored different aspects related to the design and simulation of axial turbines operating with supercritical CO₂, and CO₂ mixtures.
