Leader and Manager Essentials programme 'refreshed'
By: Organisational Development
Last updated: Wednesday, 25 September 2024
In October, a refreshed Leader and Manager Essentials programme is being launched for staff, aiming to enhance the skills and knowledge of those who:
- are new to the role of people leader or manager with little or no previous in-depth experience of leading and managing teams and individuals
- aspire to be a leader or manager
- would like to refresh their skills and knowledge
The purpose is to provide participants with development around leader and manager behaviours and become equipped with the fundamental tools and techniques to effectively lead and manage individuals or teams within the university.
Why has the programme been refreshed?
Earlier this year, the Sussex Leader and Manager Competency Framework was developed, outlining the important leadership and management principles expected at Sussex, and the everyday competencies which underpin them. The Programme has been redeveloped to align with the new competencies and support staff on their journey to become effective leaders and managers.

You can attend modules individually or join all the modules.
