Want to develop your skills and business ideas while making an impact on post-Covid society and the environment?

The University of Sussex are delighted to be taking part in Ingenuity, a unique national and regional programme which looks to invest in the next generation of impact-driven start-ups that will transform society and the environment.
Could this be you?
We are looking for any students or researchers from the University, interested in setting up an impact-led business proposal which helps to drive the recovery and rebuilding of our environment, society and economy, post-Covid-19.
Whether you already have an idea for a start-up or want help developing your ideas, the Ingenuity project will guide you, as a Future Founder, through the proposal stages and support you in discovering how to get your business off the ground.
Why apply?
You will:
- gain an understanding of key social and environmental issues
- be inspired by insights from leading think tanks, charities and impact innovators
- learn from experts in industry, universities, national and local government, charities and the wider community to develop business solutions
- pitch to industry specialists at regional and national events and compete for over £400,000 of investment and support.
How to apply
If you would like to be involved you need to apply by 1 November, by identifying which of the following Challenges you would like your idea to address:

Create Prosperity – Improve financial inclusion and resilience, to enable sustainable prosperity and growth

Build Community - Create stronger, more inclusive and accessible communities that benefit individuals throughout their lives

Improve Health - Improve people’s health in body and mind, tackle health inequalities and provide long-term health security

Tackle Climate Change - Evolve our ways of living, how society operates and work together in ways that are more sustainable
You won’t need to commit to your business idea straight away, but you will need to attend an online problem-solving session on 9 or 10 December 2020.
Professional Services staff and Sussex alumni are also invited to take part in the project. They can get involved by selecting from the following two pathways:

Regional Pioneer: if you want to find out more about social innovation and how it could help make a better world

Mentor: if you want to help develop new businesses and ideas from Future Founders
