SHL Digital Research Forum
Monday 7 April 14:00 until 15:00
University of Sussex Campus : Sussex Humanities Lab, Silverstone Building, Arts Road, BN1 9RG

Our Research Forum is a space for Sussex researchers to meet and share research ideas and interests. At each forum we welcome three or more speakers to share work at different stages of development:
- On-going work: updates on current funded projects.
- Bids in development: to provide support and feedback during bid development.
- New ideas: a 3-minute pitch to brainstorm initial seeds of future projects and possible funding bids.
Speakers:
Alice Eldridge - Wild House - Ecological citizenship through an Ecology of Things [EoT] - Wild House is pioneering ‘regenerative retrofit’ and ‘show home’ social house fitted out with innovative objects and ecological experiences that connect inhabitants to the myriad other species dwelling in the landscape from where its’ materials are sourced.
Rob Sharp (Sussex) & Elena Orap: Architectures of Emergency - This research examines critical digital cartography and participatory mapping in Ukraine’s war-affected landscapes, exploring how war debris, historical maps, and mapping practices shape territorial narratives and memory. Using ethnographic and cartographic methods, it investigates mapping’s role in shaping perceptions of conflict, identity, and recovery.
This event is open to Sussex researchers at all career levels interested in developing research projects at the intersections of digital technology, society, culture and environment. PGRs are particularly encouraged and welcome.
There is a light lunch available before hand from 1pm. Forum starts at 2pm prompt.
Attendance in person is encouraged, but there will be the possibility to join via Zoom.
