EDI e-learning courses on LearnUpon are designed to support all staff in their day-to-day work and promote respect and dignity across our University community.
They are a resource for managers and staff to support in developing an inclusive and informed culture, and for learning and development. They can also be used to address gaps in training which have been identified at a Divisional, School or team level e.g. through surveys or local action plans.
In addition to the mandatory training for staff, there are a broad range of courses in the LearnUpon catalogue. These courses typically take less than an hour to complete and can be accessed at a time and place to suit you.
EDI eLearning courses include:
Disability Essentials is an introductory course designed to ensure people are confident and comfortable talking about disability. The course combines legal expertise with the lived experience of disabled people to support staff in their knowledge and engagement with disabled staff and students. (60 minutes).
Introduction to Neurodiversity training
A video-based course that explores strategies and inclusive practices to create the best possible conditions for neurodivergent thinkers to thrive in the workplace. (30 minutes).
Our anti-racism e-learning course, developed with Advance HE, explores microaggressions, privilege, and systemic racism. It helps staff deepen their understanding, challenge biases, and support a more inclusive Sussex. (Unit 1 and Unit 2; 25-45 minutes each).
Supporting trans and non-binary people
Using a mix of original drama, personal testimony and legal analysis, together with an in-depth case study featuring leading UK insurance company LV=, this short course provides an essential toolkit for managers in managing and supporting trans and non-binary staff at all levels of an organisation. (15 minutes).
Understanding Equality Analysis
The short e-learning includes content on the law and how to conduct an effective equality analysis. By the end of this course, you will be able to identify protected groups and characteristics, recognise different types of discrimination, identify what is needed and steps to complete an Equality Analysis. (40 minutes).
Other EDI courses on LearnUpon include:
