We are delighted to host Rebbecca Hemmings from Strawberry Words Ltd who will be giving an invaluable seminar on Microaggressions.

Race equality: Anti-Racism, Allyship and Action

Monday 26 October, 14:30 – 15:30

We welcome Khadija Mohammed, Senior Lecturer from the University of West Scotland, who will give a seminar on anti-racist culture and allyship.

This session rests upon the uncomfortable truth that racism is normal, it’s pervasive. It’s in society and it is in our institutional settings, it’s in the everyday! This platform will provide opportunities to engage in some critical discussions about racism and whiteness.

It is important to develop a shared language around basic racial literacy so that you can name it, understand it and seek to change practice. It will be an opportunity to ask questions and share good practice in developing effective allyship leading to tangible actions.

Black History Month reading group discussion

Friday 30 October, 13:00 – 14:00

We are holding a reading group, focussing on the book Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge.

If you do not have access to a hard copy, it is available through the University’s online library.

On 30 October we will get together to discuss the book using some of these question ideas.
