Engineering and Informatics Shines at University of Sussex Education Awards 2024

The University of Sussex's annual Education Awards ceremony recognised outstanding achievements across the institution, with the School of Engineering and Informatics (EngInf) being well-represented among the celebrated winners. The awards highlight the university's commitment to delivering an exceptional learning experience and fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration.
World Readiness Award
The World Readiness Award recognises individuals and teams who go the extra mile in preparing and empowering students for life after graduation. This year, a team from EngInf was honoured for their exceptional efforts. Luke Mitchell, Graziana di Pede, Kathryn Mountford, Helena Joyce, and Luis Ponce Cuspinera received the prestigious award for their dedicated mentorship and guidance, which have played a pivotal role in enriching the educational journey of countless students. Their work in creating opportunities for students to apply academic knowledge to real-world challenges, develop employability and entrepreneurial skills, and engage with employers has been instrumental in equipping graduates for success in an increasingly globalised world.
Learning Together Award
The Learning Together Award celebrates collaborations between staff and students, recognising teams that have fostered a sense of belonging and co-creation in the teaching and learning experience. Two teams from EngInf were honoured in this category. The Informatics Peer Assisted Learning team was lauded for their innovative and collaborative approach to enhancing the learning experience through peer support networks. Their work has empowered students to learn from one another, cultivating essential skills for academic and professional success.
Additionally, the Engineering and Design Mentors were recognised for their exceptional mentorship and guidance, which have played a crucial role in shaping the academic and professional development of numerous students within the school.
The Education Awards serve as a platform to celebrate the tireless efforts of educators, mentors, and support staff who consistently go above and beyond to foster an inclusive and intellectually stimulating environment for students. The achievements of Engineering and Informatics at the 2024 awards showcase the exceptional talent, innovation, and commitment to student success that drive this institution forward.
