This year, second year Product Design students at the University of Sussex were tasked with an exciting brief - to identify future consumer needs of Generation Z and design innovative solutions to meet them. The brief was developed in collaboration with Dyson, providing students a unique opportunity to respond to a real-world design challenge.
After extensive research, ideation, and prototyping, the students recently presented their solutions to a panel of judges from Dyson and the University. The winning team, consisting of Rory Wilson-Tidswell, Max Walton and Jamie Schulp, impressed the judges with their creative concept that clearly addressed emerging Gen Z consumer trends.
As Dr. Alexandre Rodrigues, Lecturer in Product Design, noted, "It was a pleasure to work with Dyson and the Product Design students on this incredibly exciting brief. Students had a free hand to look into future trends for generation z and design a product that satisfies those trends. I want to congratulate Rory, Max and Jamie for their incredible hard-work to bring their winning concept to this competition."
The challenge provided invaluable hands-on experience for the students to apply their skills in user research, concept development, and technical design to create solutions for real consumer needs. As they move forward in their studies and careers, these students now have an impressive demonstration of their talents in innovating for the next generation.
