Professor Carol Alexander
Wall Street's top 10 Women Quants
Professor Carol Alexander was named second among the top ten female quants (quantitative analysts) on Wall Street by Rebellion Research. She is a Professor of Finance at the University of Sussex Business School and a Visiting Professor at Peking University Business School. She has also edited the Journal of Banking and Finance since 2013 but will be stepping down after ten years at the end of 2022.
With research coverage spanning over 50 countries, Rebellion Research is a global machine-learning think tank, artificial intelligence financial advisor, and hedge fund. Nominations were restricted to Quant leaders, C-level executives, professors and school directors. Each nomination was recorded as a vote and Professor Alexander was the only academic on the list.
Professor Alexander is an expert in crypto asset and derivatives markets, financial risk analysis, high-frequency data analysis, blockchains, pricing and hedging financial instruments, volatility analysis, investment strategies, benchmarking and portfolio management.
Professor Carol Alexander says: “Women and minority groups still struggle to find top jobs in quant finance. In time I hope that smart individuals will be accepted as just that, without any reference to their sex or ethnic origin, or any other minority characteristic. Rebellion Research filed nominations from head quants and elite professors ranked 50 women in order of the number of nominations. It is a great honour to be ranked second in this prestigious list.”
