Business School welcomes new and returning students as the new academic year begins
Over 1000 new students are joining the University of Sussex Business School from the UK and across the world during Welcome Week at the start of the new academic year.
This week, the School is hosting a range of welcome, orientation and social sessions as students move on to campus before the teaching term begins next week.
On Wednesday 21 September, students will receive a warm welcome from Professor Steve McGuire, Dean of the Business School, and meet their tutors and academic advisors, with the opportunity to network and make new friends in social activities.
Steve said: “It’s my pleasure to welcome so many new and returning students from the UK and overseas to our top ranked and double accredited Business School. With over 4000 students, we are the largest School at the University of Sussex with teaching and research strengths including the future of work, international trade, energy and climate change, and students are well supported in their academic studies.
“For many new students, starting university is an exciting time but it can also sometimes be overwhelming. My advice to get the most out of academic and student life is firstly, manage your time, there is a lot of demand for it and learn how to budget your time effectively. Secondly, be a joiner - join clubs and societies. Don’t feel you have to make this journey on your own, we have lots of support available at the Business School.”
There are numerous events taking place across campus this week, including the Freshers Fair where students can discover over 250 sports clubs, societies, and campaign groups, alongside campus services that Sussex has to offer, whilst enjoying giveaways, food, and music.
Students can also watch a short welcome video from the Dean.
