Book abstract
Joanne’s new book Powering Workplace Proactivity, grounded in research, introduces her PROACTIVE Work Design Model© and diagnostic tool, guiding organisations to create the right conditions for proactivity to flourish, driving long-term success. Intended as a practical resource, it offers a range of evidence-based tools and techniques, along with insightful case studies. Leaders, managers, HR professionals, OD practitioners, and consultants will find actionable strategies to stimulate proactive behaviours and drive sustainable performance within their organisations.
Powering Workplace Proactivity explores the importance of being proactive at work—whether it’s taking initiative, challenging the status quo, or finding better ways of working. Proactivity isn’t just about individual effort; it’s a social endeavour that depends on the relationships we build and the situations we find ourselves in. This book looks at proactivity from a broader perspective, showing how we can create environments that encourage everyone to contribute, adapt, and improve—making workplaces more engaging, effective, and ready to tackle whatever comes next.
