The University of Sussex is proud to highlight the significance of volunteerism and its profound impact on our local community.
In celebration of National Volunteers’ Week, and ahead of Plastic Free July, we are excited to host a Sussex Staff Beach Clean, on Thursday 11 July 3-5pm, an event that embodies our commitment to the environment and our community.
This is more than just a clean-up; it’s a movement towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future for all.
We, as an employer, want to support and encourage all of our staff to take time out from their day jobs to support good causes in the community. Our Volunteering Policy gives all employees (full and part time) on a contract of 12 months or more an allowance of at least two days per year (pro rata) to volunteer.
Make the most of your Volunteer Leave as we invite all staff to the beautiful Brighton Beach. The beach clean-up is an opportunity for staff to come together in a collective effort to preserve the natural beauty of our coastline. It’s a chance to make a tangible difference while enjoying the camaraderie and the scenic views that Brighton Beach has to offer.
Let’s roll up our sleeves, fill up those bags with litter, and leave the beach a little better than we found it.
Reserve your space now and remember, every piece of litter removed is a step towards a cleaner planet. We look forward to seeing you there!
