World Menopause Awareness Day - 18 October

Last updated: Thursday, 2 February 2023
World Menopause Awareness Day is on 18 October and the University is delighted to be holding a Menopause Festival to mark the day. The festival will comprise a series of events designed to raise awareness and offer support and signposting for people who are experiencing symptoms. The festival will also help get everyone talking about the menopause so that we can help to help break the stigma that surrounds it. The University recognises the need for more workplace support as a core employee health issue.
Events include a session on nutrition and the menopause, a conversation with a local GP and menopause expert, and a session to help everyone find out more about the menopause and why we should be talking about it. See the full programme and make your bookings.
Peter Mitchell, our Interim HR Director says, "the University of Sussex is steadfast in its commitment to ensuring that anyone experiencing menopausal symptoms is fully supported in the workplace. I want to reassure everyone that all University staff should feel able to thrive through the Menopause and my door is always open should anyone wish to talk to me. We also have a team of Menopause Champions who have lived experience of the menopause and can offer a supportive, friendly ear, if you would like to talk to them. I would also encourage you all to attend as many of events arranged as part of the Menopause Festival as you can.”
Our Menopause web pages have a link to the Menopause Policy as well as lots of resources and support.
