Thank you to everyone who shared their views in our spring pulse survey which closed on Friday 13 May. Your responses help us understand how people feel about working at Sussex so we can continue to make positive change.
The data is currently being collated by People Insight, and the headline data should be available to the University in the middle of June. Results will be shared with the University Leadership Team, and then Schools and PS Divisions. Once we’ve had time to review and understand the findings, we will turn our attention to prioritising actions based on what we have heard.
45% of our target audience completed the confidential survey, which is slightly above the response rate from the last survey in autumn 2021. If we include those staff on our casual payroll, this figure is 39%, again slightly higher than the return rate last autumn. Whilst this is a small step in the right direction, there is still work to be done in encouraging participation.
What next?
Week commencing 13 June
- Institutional-level results will be shared with the University Leadership Team (which consists of the University Executive Group, Deputy Pro-Vice Chancellors, Heads of School and Divisional Directors).
- The headline findings from the survey will be shared with all staff.
- Training sessions will be held for survey ‘Dashboard Users’ in each School and PS Division
Weeks of 20 and 27 June
- Results will start to be shared in Schools and PS Divisions, and conversations will take place about possible action plans both at institutional and local level
Melanie Bywell, Deputy Director of Human Resources, said: “Thanks very much to everyone who took part in our spring pulse survey. It’s a busy time, with lots of change and transformation underway at Sussex, and I am pleased that so many of you took the time to tell us how you feel. Being new into role, it will provide a very useful indication of what it feels like to work here, and where myself and the team can add most value in supporting our Schools and PS Divisions.“
