Apply now to become a Dignity and Respect champion
By: Sean Armstrong
Last updated: Wednesday, 8 December 2021
If you’d like to be a Dignity and Respect Champion to support and promote an inclusive culture at Sussex, you can now apply for the role.
The network was of Dignity and Respect Champions first launched on October last year to support our Dignity and Respect policy [PDF 678KB] and to ensure that people could seek support from a trained individual.
There is now an opportunity to apply for the role as we are expanding the network to increase representation from marginalised groups.
Individuals will need to approach their line manager if they want to apply for the position as it is an average of 0.1 of your role (equivalent to half a day) although this may vary depending on the number of cases and we are also able to flex to meet people’s commitments.
Assistant Director of HR, OD, Culture and Inclusion Sharon Neal said: “It is important that we recruit more dignity and respect champions. Our champions offer an invaluable service to people seeking support.
“They complement our online Report and Support tool, which we launched in August this year. We're particularly keen to increase the diversity of the champions' network and want to encourage staff from marginalised groups to consider applying.
“All champions receive support from the network and will be offered comprehensive training. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and respectful environment at Sussex, and our champions network is one of the ways in which we support people to raise concerns about any form of discrimination.”
Applications open from Monday 6 December and will close on Friday 14 January.
