As term winds to a close, our project teams are gearing up for a busy summer as work continues on our new West Slope development, Network Replacement Programme and building improvement projects.
West Slope
The West Slope development is soon approaching another significant milestone with the demolition of Lancaster House and Kent and Kulukundis House due to start this July. Ahead of demolition, we have been busy installing Hoardings around the construction site and over the summer there will be some pathway changes around campus.
Over the next few weeks, the north end of Arts Path, between Norwich House Road and Lancaster House Road, will be closed and pedestrians diverted to Refectory Road. The diversion will be signposted and access to Norwich House, Essex House and Bramber House will be maintained.
Over the summer the demolition of Park Village will continue, and towards the end of the summer, some of our work to prepare campus for the West Slope development construction will begin to draw to a close. There will be further road and pathway changes as these works complete, so keep a look out for more information later this summer.
Network Replacement Programme
Having successfully completed a series of surveys in roads across campus, the Network Replacement team is now embarking on a rolling programme of works to install new communications ducting over the next few months.
From Monday 19 June, work will be taking place at the top of the Southern Ring Road and along North South Road. All roads will remain open during these works but are likely to be reduced to a single lane around the worksite – traffic management will be in place to help you navigate these works.
More information about our plans to improve internet across our campus can be found on our Network Replacement Programme webpages, and you can read about how we are improving WiFi in residences this summer on the Staff Hub.
Bramber House
Plans are also taking shape to make structural improvements to Bramber House – home to Eat Central, the Co-op and our new Security Centre. Planning is currently underway, and we will share more about the works and how they might impact campus before they start.
