As some of you will know, we have different staff networks in place to give staff the opportunity to meet with other colleagues from across campus. You can read more about our networks here on our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion pages.
One of those networks which has been inactive for a period of time is the BAME Staff Network. The network will be re-launching early in 2022 and, as part of our ongoing commitment to making the University a more inclusive place to work, we’re really keen to understand how you would like the network to be run and what kind of things you would like to get from it. Your answers will help us decide how we could move forward with re-starting the network.
Please complete our short survey so you can help shape how the network starts up again and, if you would like to be a part of the network, please email bame-staff@sussex.ac.uk to sign up.
Prof. Kevin Hylton, Interim PVC, Culture, Equality and Inclusion, said: "Staff Networks have been productive spaces for the collective voice of racialised staff and allies. They have been used to hear and share a collective voice. They can also be a place where like-minded colleagues consider important priorities for the network while escalating them to co-produce their achievement.
"Often strength of voice comes with shared ideas. This BAME Staff Network is a great opportunity to carve out an inclusive and safe space for discussion, advocacy and personal enrichment. With David Ruebain, I look forward to seeing and supporting this work."
