Countdown to COP26: Join Senior Leaders for a free Climate Coffee and Cake
By: Martha Knott
Last updated: Wednesday, 3 November 2021
Members of the University’s Executive Group invite you to a series of Climate Coffees to give you the opportunity to talk about how you feel about the climate crisis and what actions you would like to personally take in your area or as an individual as we all work together to tackle climate change, ahead of COP26.
Next month, world leaders and scientists will come together in Glasgow for COP26, highlighting the importance of global collaboration in meeting climate targets and combatting climate change. Find out more about how Sussex is contributing to the COP and our exciting Count Down to the COP programme of events.
At Sussex we have our own targets for tackling the climate crisis. We declared a climate emergency in 2019 and in 2021 we have published our new, ambitious Sustainable Sussex strategy.
Our strategy includes a target of reaching net zero carbon by 2035 and outlines how we will work together with staff and students across our university to reach these targets via a network of sustainability champions. As a university, and as individuals, we must show global leadership in all forms of environmental, social and economic sustainability.
Sign up for one of the seven sessions in the ACCA cafe to share your thoughts, discuss how we as a University are working to combat climate change, and to come up with personal commitments that you would like to make in your own area and life to help tackle climate change.
