What is a Dignity Champion?
The role of Dignity Champions is to provide confidential and informal advice to those who feel they are experiencing difficult working relationships, including bullying or harassment, or who have witnessed such behaviour.
Dignity Champions will listen, talk through the options available and, if appropriate, signpost to other sources of support and advice. The eight Dignity Champions will also work as a team to offer mutual support and will share responsibility for updating the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Equalities and Diversity) on the content and extent of issues brought to their attention.
The Dignity Champion is a new role created following the launch of the Dignity and Respect policy, last month. Dignity Champions will play a crucial role in bringing the Dignity and Respect policy to life.
Who can apply?
Staff from across the whole university are encouraged to apply to become a Dignity Champion. We hope that our Dignity Champions will come from all parts of the university, from all levels, and will have a range of personal circumstances, identities and experiences.
