Get ready for Student Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week from 18–22 November! Brought to you by Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS), this week is packed with impactful events to help students make informed choices about drug and alcohol use. Keep an eye on USSU’s social media for all updates, including a special survey where your input is key! More information will be on the Student Wellbeing Instagram - follow us here.
You can find out more about alcohol and drug misuse on the Student Hub. If you are concerned about your drug and alcohol use, reach out to the University. You can do this by submitting an enquiry on MySussex or turning up at the Student Centre from Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm. In an emergency - always call 999.
Event Highlights:
Monday 18 November | 6-8pm
Kick off the week in an alcohol-free zone at Room 76 in Falmer Bar. Sip on delicious mocktails and get the inside scoop on the awareness survey!
Tuesday 19 November
A representative from Change Grow Live will be at the Student Centre atrium (time TBC) to offer insights and answer your questions on drug and alcohol use.
Thursday 21 November | 11am–3pm
Head back to the Student Centre atrium for another chance to chat with Change Grow Live. From 11am–1pm, meet someone from the local sexual health service and experience firsthand how alcohol affects your senses with “beer goggles.” Test your skills with tasks like texting and walking a straight line—it’s tougher than you think!
Stay engaged, stay informed, and let’s make this week one to remember!
