Summer term mentoring update

As we approach summer, we wanted to make you aware of some exciting new initiatives as part of our staff mentoring programme.
Mentoring is a developmental relationship focused on learning and growth. It provides an opportunity to share knowledge, skills and experience in a confidential, safe space and explore solutions to challenges. There are also many benefits to mentoring, including developing active listening skills, the art of questioning, and extending your professional network.
It also ties in closely with your development journey, so with ADR season approaching this is the perfect time to reflect and consider where mentoring may support your professional development.
What’s new?
As well as our usual workshops to support mentees and mentors we have a couple of new initiatives that may interest you:
Speed mentoring pilot
Mentees already in the programme who are looking to connect and form a new mentoring relationship are invited to join our upcoming speed mentoring pilot. Join this event and meet with potential mentors over a few refreshments. Book your place on LearnUpon.
Mentor search support
Struggling to find a suitable mentor to meet your needs? For support and guidance get in touch with our Organisational Development team by email at od@sussex.ac.uk.
If you are new to the programme and would like to join either as a mentee, or as a mentor (or both!), please see our Staff Mentoring events calendar to sign up for the relevant workshop. These run every term.
Mentors can also take advantage of our bi-monthly Community of Practice to further develop their practice and connect with peer-to-peer support. Curious about what staff in the programme have to say about the mentoring programme? Read our staff mentoring case studies in the feedback section of our Guidance for mentees and Guidance for mentors.
