The Medical Response Team
The Health and Safety Team are looking to recruit two committed individuals to become part of the University Medical Response Team (MRT). The MRT is comprised of voluntary members of staff who play a vital role in assisting the University in implementing its first aid arrangements by attending emergency First Aid callouts across campus during working hours.
The MRT provides support to staff, students and others in the event of a medical emergency whilst on campus. You will be provided with First Aid at Work training, a radio, medical kit and, if you are a driver, access to drive the team’s Medical Response vehicle. You will also receive a small annual First Aider allowance and an extra day's annual leave (after one year's service in the MRT).
The team currently operates a Primary Watch/Buddy system and there is a minimum requirement of two days spent on campus to apply. In the event of a medical emergency, whilst you are on call, you will be contacted by the Security Team via radio. You should be able to pause your usual work activities at very short notice to attend an emergency.
If you are interested in applying for this role, please first seek approval from your Line Manager. Once approved, or if you would like more information, please contact Jo Rogers (j.rogers@sussex.ac.uk) or Will Horne (w.a.horne@sussex.ac.uk).
