Professor Peter Newell ranked 2nd in the world for ‘Political Economy’ by ScholarGPS

Peter Newell, Professor of International Relations at the University of Sussex, has been named a Highly Ranked Scholar and ranked No. 2 in the world by ScholarGPS in the Political Economy category (over the last 5 years) based on his prolific publication record, the high impact of his work, and the outstanding quality of his scholarly contributions. Additionally, he has been ranked No. 3 in the world for energy transitions (based on lifetime) in the ScholarGPS league tables
Peter is a specialist in the politics and political economy of environment and development. For more than 25 years he has conducted research, consultancy and advisory work on issues of climate change and energy, agricultural biotechnology, corporate accountability and trade policy working in a number of countries, including Argentina, Brazil, China, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Mexico and South Africa. In recent years his research has focused on the political economy of carbon markets and low carbon energy transitions.
Peter has published extensively, his most significant works including 'Climate Capitalism' and 'Governing Climate Change'.
