Coffee with impact
Arts Piazza café recently revealed a fresh makeover, inspired by its new partner roastery, Social Impact Coffee – a small specialty roastery driven to create real change through supporting important causes.
The partnership has positive social impact at its heart, serving kindness in every cup. Social Impact Coffee believe that every coffee should do good, and their model ensures that 65% of the sales from the coffee beans we purchase goes directly to support local causes of our choice.
Making a difference together
Sussex Uni Food invites students and staff to visit Arts Piazza between Monday 3 February and Thursday 6 February, to vote for their charity of choice, using a coffee-bean-in-a-jar system.
The coffee beans will be counted carefully, and the two winning charities will be announced in February.
Shortlisted charities
Focusing on local causes, you can choose from the following charities:
- Martlets: providing care to people affected by terminal illness in Brighton and Hove
- Brighton Permaculture Trust: sustainable agriculture project based in Stanmer Park
- Surfers Against Sewage: local grassroots environmental charity dedicated to the protection of oceans, waves, beaches and wildlife
- Rockinghorse: funding and delivering life-saving equipment, specialist projects and enhanced services for sick babies, children and young people throughout Sussex
The selection process will be repeated annually in the winter, and you'll have the opportunity to vote for different charities each year.
Your coffee bean, your choice
Visit Arts Piazza by Thursday 6 February to cast your vote!
Your participation is very important in helping us select the causes that matter most to our campus community. You don’t need to purchase a coffee to be able to vote.
Our goal is to ensure the two winning charities reflect the true preferences of our students and staff and we encourage fair participation. We therefore ask that each person only votes once.
