Last updated: Wednesday, 29 January 2025
World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW), observed every year in the first week of February, is a global initiative to promote dialogue, understanding, and cooperation between people of different faiths. Established by the United Nations in 2010, it highlights the values of tolerance, respect, and peaceful coexistence.
Why it matters
In a world often divided by religious differences, WIHW serves as a reminder that faith communities share a common desire for peace and justice. By fostering interfaith dialogue, we can create societies where diversity is celebrated and mutual respect prevails. The week amplifies the efforts of those working to promote peace, tolerance, and understanding worldwide. To find out more please visit World Interfaith Harmony Week | United Nations

This year, the University is undertaking a project to surface and support better understanding of different forms of racism and religious discrimination, including antisemitism, islamophobia/anti-Muslim discrimination and anti-Palestinian racism. The work will likely include provision of a range of resources and events, further updates will be provided.
Support
The University Chaplaincy team also upholds the university’s commitment to interfaith understanding and dialogue and is supported by a team of Associate Chaplains who represent many different religious and spiritual traditions, including Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Pagan, and Humanist chaplains.
