A Yellow Cold Health Alert (response) has been issued for the southeast due to the likely cold temperatures over the next few days. The alert is currently in place from 6pm on 17/01/2025 until 9am on 21/01/2025 but this will be reviewed on a daily basis, so please check the forecast regularly.

A Yellow Cold Health Alert means: Impacts are unlikely to affect most people but could impact those who are particularly vulnerable such as those aged 65+ and some other vulnerable groups, such as those sleeping rough and those with long-term health conditions.

Actions for you to take: Please familiarise yourself and your staff with the key advice and actions you need to take in your services and plan ahead for very cold weather

Being cold isn’t just uncomfortable it can be bad for your health. It can make health conditions such respiratory disease worse, increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes and falls, as well as impacting on people’s mental health.
