The University of Sussex has been an Accredited Living Wage employer since 2022, and as such is very pleased to support the Brighton & Hove Living Wage Campaign. This initiative, led by Brighton Chamber and supported by Brighton & Hove City Council and UNISON, encourages all local employers to pay employees a wage linked to the cost of living. The living wage is a voluntary minimum wage paid by thousands of employers across the country based on calculations of the actual cost of living and is higher than the National Minimum Wage.
Professor Robin Banerjee, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Global & Civic Engagement) said: “The University is a proud living wage employer. I am delighted that we have joined this initiative to encourage other employers in the city to pay their employees fairly, with a wage that keeps up with the cost of living and helps to improve living standards for the lowest paid workers.”
