Falmer Dental Care services permanently closed

Falmer Dental Care, an NHS dental practice independent of the University, closed its campus practice in late May this year. The University ensured that the campus community was kept informed in the run up to the closure, however, the University understands that the practice may have not made its patients aware of the closure or relocation plans.
If you are affected by this, please be aware that the NHS website can assist with locating nearby dental services.
For staff, managers are encouraged to use their discretion for employees to take time off for medical appointments, including attending the GP, dentist or hospital. Time off for medical appointments should be recorded on MyView.
The increase in hybrid working in recent years means that in many cases it may be as convenient to visit a local dentist when working from home as it was to visit Falmer Dental Care when working on campus.
For students, we provide comprehensive advice on all health services on the Student Hub. In particular, students are advised to register with a GP near to where they live at university. For dental services we advise that students should be registered with a dentist, however, for UK students, staying registered at their home practice may be preferable.
This closure of the dental practice is part of the West Slope development, in which a brand-new Health and Wellbeing Centre will prioritise space dedicated to student welfare and therapeutic services. Opening in 2026 and located opposite the Student Centre, the new facility will bring together University wellbeing services, including NHS GP services, in a modern, purpose-built environment. The campus community was informed of the practice’s closure in advance.
