Our local Sexual Health and Contraception Services (SHAC) offers a free training for anyone who might offer advice to young people about the C-card, STI testing and local services.
What is the C-Card?
The C-Card is a national scheme to provide contraception to young people aged 16-25. People can download an app, or just ask in any C-Card collection site (on campus this is the pharmacy and health centre) and receive condoms, internal condoms and lubricant.
How can I access training?
The training takes around 1 hour to complete and you can find it on Youtube.
It is recommended that you watch the YouTube video on a computer and answer the questions on a smartphone - there is a QR code in the training to access the questionnaire.
Further resources are available online, and anyone who completes the training will receive a C-Card certificate.
Please remember to use your Sussex email address so that we can monitor how many people have completed it. Currently, only one member of staff at the University has completed it.
If you have any questions, you can email the SHAC team on SC-TR.BrightonCASH@nhs.net or the Student Wellbeing Officer on healthandwellbeing@sussex.ac.uk.
