The University of Sussex has once again warmly welcomed students from the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program. This initiative, part of the Indonesian government’s effort to enhance its students' global exposure and competencies, allows undergraduate students to spend a semester studying abroad.
Our relationship with IISMA goes back to 2021 when the program was program was launched by the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. It is part of the "Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka" (Freedom to Learn, Independent Campus) initiative. We have now welcomed over 75 students to Sussex as part of this scheme.
The IISMA students bring a fresh perspective to Sussex, engaging with local students, participating in intercultural activities, and sharing insights about Indonesia. This exchange enriches the Sussex campus, strengthening the bonds between the UK and Indonesia and contributing to a globalised learning environment that benefits both IISMA and Sussex students.
