Give a Brighton resident a happier Christmas

Offer someone a brighter festive season this year by donating food, toiletries or stocking fillers to the collection run by our sports staff.
SussexSport are collecting items for the Hangleton and West Blatchington Foodbank until Tuesday, November 19.
"We know many families will struggle this winter, so all donations are greatly appreciated and we thank you so much for your kindness and generosity,” says Andy Stone, Senior Duty Manager at the Falmer Sports Complex whose wife Lara organises the annual collections.
What to donate
The following unopened and in-date items are needed:
- Baked beans
- Biscuits
- Christmas pudding/cake/biscuits/mince pies
- Christmas gift bags
- Chutney
- Cooking sauces
- Cranberry sauce
- Dried fruit
- Gravy granules
- Jam and marmalade
- Laundry detergent
- Long-life fruit juice and UHT milk
- Nappies
- Noodles
- Oil (for cooking)
- Pasta
- Peanut butter
- Sandwich pickle e.g. Branston
- Salt, pepper and spices
- Savoury snacks e.g. twiglets, crackers
- Stocking filler gifts e.g. crayons, stickers
- Stuffing
- Sweet snacks e.g. chocolate
- Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, mini marshmallows and sugar
- Tinned fish/meat/fruit/veg
- Tinned meat meals e.g. meatballs
- Tinned rice pudding/custard
- Tinned vegetarian meals e.g. chilli
- Toiletries (incl. sanitary products and razors)
- Toilet rolls
Where to take it
There are a number of collection points around the campus where you can pop your items into the festive boxes, including:
- The Sport Centre reception on University Way
- Falmer Sports Complex reception on Pavilion Road
- The Student Centre (Heat and Eat kitchen area)
- Swanborough reception in Block 2 on Refectory Road
- Swanborough laundrette on Refectory Road
- Falmer House reception
- ACCA Café

In addition to SussexSport’s collection, our catering partners have organised a charity collection to gather new warm clothes and festive foods for the homeless people of Brighton and Hove.
