The Episodic Memory lab attended the annual Memory Disorders Research Society (MDRS) meeting held in Manchester between 25-28th September. The MDRS is a professional society dedicated to the study of memory. Their meetings are open to members only, and the purpose is to gather world experts in the field of memory, to present their research.
This year, Professor Chris Bird, elected member of the society, was one of the meeting organizers and had chance to include some of his lab members, Dr Flavia De Luca, Dr Dominika Varga, and Kasia Mojescik, as helpers.
Chris gave a talk titled "When surprise is processed by the hippocampus", in which he summarised a fMRI research project led by Dominika Varga.
The highlight of the meeting was a keynote lecture by Nobel Prize John O'Keefe, introduced by Chris Bird.
The 3-days meeting took place in the beautiful Hyatt hotel in Manchester, from which a stunning rainbow was seen on the last day of the meeting.
