Our Economics and Business Management departments have secured solid rankings in the 2024 Research.com rankings of university departments. In the UK, Business Management climbed three places, 13th from 16th in 2023. Economics secured a UK top 10 spot at 8th.
In the global rankings, Business Management rose to 71st position from 81st in 2023. Economics made the global top 50, ranked 49th.
In the same announcement, 20 Business School academics were among 119 University of Sussex featured as leading researchers in their fields. Research.com further recognised six of these 20 academics as ‘Leaders’ and a ‘Rising Star’ in the UK. High scores on the H-index – a metric that measures productivity, influence, and citation impact of publications – determine these recognitions.
Among the researchers recognised as UK Leaders in their fields are Professors Richard S. J. Tol, Benjamin K. Sovacool, L. Alan Winters, Michael B. Beverland, and the late Professors Nicholas Crafts and David J. Storey.
Professor Nachiappan Subramanian was recognised as a Rising Star of Science in the UK – ranked 32nd. He is among the group of young researchers who “have created many world-changing solutions and innovative discoveries that have influenced the scientific arena”.
