Applications are now open for the Student Rep scheme and we want you to join us!
What are student reps?
Student Reps are here to fight your corner in all academic related issues. They act as the link between the student body and course conveners to make sure that you are receiving an education that works for you. Student Reps cover all issues that affect your academic experience.
We have over 400 reps across campus who work on making change for you. Reps have made sure that your assessment deadlines are not overwhelming, helped decolonise your curriculum, and improved accessibility and study spaces in buildings across campus.
What’s changed this year?
The Student Rep Scheme has changed a little this year! Following consultation from students and staff, we are trialling a new system from this year where students sign up to become a Course Rep by filling in the self-nomination form and completing online training without the need to be elected. We hope that this will make the scheme more accessible and easier to access.
Our other rep roles will continue to be elected positions, this includes Senior Course Reps, Specialised Reps (International, Accessibility) and Committee Reps. Senior Course Reps will chair school meetings and attend the university-wide Student Experience Forum, and Committee Reps will attend university committees, and will be paid for their time.
All reps will receive specialised training, support and the opportunity to attend our rep celebration events. Our reps are an incredibly valuable part of our university structure and key in enabling the student voice to be heard at Sussex, so we hope you consider applying.
How do I become a Rep?
Any student can become a rep and join the work of building a better Sussex.
