My experience of house sharing

My first year of university was, well, interesting to say the least. I had to attend classes from home due to the pandemic. But as my second year approached, I knew I had to find a place to live since I wasn’t going to commute.
That's when I stumbled upon a girl's post on Snapchat, where she was looking for someone to share a house with. Now, here's the catch: she was part of a group of five friends, and I was to be the sixth member. Sounds a bit overwhelming, right? Believe me, I felt the same way. But I had no choice but to take the leap and message her.
To my surprise, she got back to me almost immediately, and we rushed to sign the agreement. I was clueless about everything, and I began to worry that I had just dug my own grave. Luckily, my aunt came to the rescue and explained the situation to me. She even paid the deposit for me since I didn't have student finance at the time.
Fast forward to moving day, and things were a bit awkward at first. It took us about a month or so to warm up to each other, and I couldn't help but feel like I was infiltrating their friendship group. But with time, our relationship turned into a family-like bond, and I came to love them all so much. We watched movies together, went to house parties, did a road trip to Asda as one of us had a car (which made food shopping way easy), and had games night where we invited other friends. These activities brought us even closer and helped us bond over shared interests.
We still keep in touch and go out together or visit each other's houses, even though everyone has gone their own separate ways. Looking back, I realize that all I had to do was talk to them, and everything fell into place. It just goes to show that taking a chance on new experiences and people can lead to some of the most rewarding friendships of your life.
