Over on Instagram (@SussexUni) we recently asked you about the things you really want to do during your time at Sussex. Here are some activities you might like to add to your bucket list, as recommended by your fellow students:
Hiking on the South Downs
Seven Sisters, known for its chalky cliffs and beautiful views, was a popular hiking destination in our poll. You can explore the South Downs Way national trail website for other routes from Eastbourne all the way across to Winchester in Hampshire.
Relaxing on the beach in warmer weather
Whether you prefer an ice cream, a cold drink, a good book or all three, the time will come for sunny afternoons and balmy evenings on Brighton beach.
Getting involved in events
Lots of you are looking forward to attending events and meeting more people. There were shout outs for societies like HackSussex, whose Hackathon is coming up in February. Check out more societies and student groups on the Students’ Union website – there's something for everyone. Make sure you sign up for the Spirit of Sussex Award and log your points too!
Days out in Sussex and London
When you’re not studying, it seems many of you are planning day trips within easy reach of Brighton. London is a firm favourite, along with other places like Lewes and Rye in East Sussex, and Arundel and Chichester in West Sussex. You might want to get a Railcard for discounted train travel if you don’t already have one.
Making more memories together
From friends and flatmates to coursemates, you told us you’d like to spend more time with the people special to you during your student years.
And finally...
In our last edition, we mentioned the student who had big ambitions to protect their lunch from the Brighton seagulls for a full year. Well, it turns out at least one of you hasn't been through the University of Sussex right of passage of having your food stolen by the local birdlife. We'd recommend eating an open packet of chips on the sea front if you really want to experience this authentic Brighton experience.
