Jacinda Humphry
The University has appointed Jacinda Humphry as our new Chief Financial Officer.
Allan Spencer, our current Director of Finance, announced in June that he would stand down from early next year, moving to a new part-time Executive Director role leading on the major projects for which he is currently responsible.
An experienced and CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualified public sector finance, commercial, and risk professional, Jacinda has operated at executive level across a number of government departments, including holding Financial Director roles at the Department for Work and Pensions, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities and, currently, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. A leader in change, as well as a diversity and inclusion champion, Jacinda is an expert at delivering outcomes through inclusive, engaged, and capable teams.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sasha Roseneil, said: “I am very excited to be welcoming Jacinda to Sussex. Allan has provided us with superb financial leadership and has guided the University through some financially challenging times. We are very fortunate that he will be here to provide a seamless transition to Jacinda, and subsequently to continue to provide management oversight of some of our most critical projects. Jacinda brings with her an abundance of experience leading large financial teams and managing complex budgets and planning processes, and I have no doubt that she will be a huge asset to the University’s leadership team. I hope you will all join me in making Jacinda very welcome when she joins us in January.”
Jacinda said: "I am delighted to be joining the University at this exciting time to help create and deliver an ambitious new strategy for 2035. I am really looking forward to being part of a great team, creating a bright future and building on the exceptional reputation for innovation, creativity and sustainability that exists at Sussex."
Jacinda will start her new role on 29 January 2024.
