Several members of the TFMRC recently attended and participated at ASME Turbo Expo 2023: Turbomachinery Technical Conference & Exposition. The conference is one of the leading conferences in areas related to turbomachinery and took place between 26th and 30th June 2023 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston, MA in the US.
Dr Mark Puttock-Brown presented the work from Emma Fox, who recently completed her PhD within the TFMRC, with a paper titled “Experimental Measurements of Flow-Average Toroidal Vorticies in Buoyancy-Dominated Rotating Cavities”.
Daniel Payne presented work from his PhD, supervised by Dr Vasudevan Kanjirakkad, with a paper titled “Experimental and Numerical Study of Purge Flow Effects in a HP Turbine Stage”.
Dr Martin White from the TFMRC, was also a co-author on three papers presented by PhD students that he co-supervised from City, University of London. The papers explored different aspects related to the design and simulation of axial turbines operating with supercritical CO2, and CO2 mixtures.
