The Operations and Planning team supported the University’s widening participation aims in May with an interactive workshop to help shape the launch of a new Degree Apprenticeship in 2024.
The Degree Apprenticeship is a key aspect of our commitment as part of Sussex and Surrey Institute of Technology (IoT). The University was part of the consortium that created Sussex and Surrey IoT in November 2022, which aims to widen participation into higher education and provide a pipeline of talent for local and regional employers. The Institute has received government investment to support an increase in higher technical education across the country.
Bringing together colleagues from across the University, the ‘End to End Apprenticeship Mapping Day’ included staff from academic departments, administration and operations, student support services, marketing and communications, project management and more. During the interactive workshop, the group mapped out the entire apprenticeship journey, sharing experience and expertise whilst identifying risks and opportunities.
The workshop was a success and an example of the great collaboration across teams. Thank you to those colleagues who gave up their time to support the event. Your expertise, guidance, and mentorship will be essential to supporting the success of the programme.
Richa Dave has recently joined Sussex as Senior Manager, Apprenticeship Services. Richa is working with Kay Jones, the Director of Operations and Planning, to establish a delivery model for the apprenticeship programmes.
