This past year has been a whirl with challenges and achievements, but what a pleasure to have been part of it all.
The Students’ Union celebrated with our student groups through Student Awards last month. So many amazing students were given awards, but here are a couple of the winning highlights:
- Sports Club of the Year: Women’s Football
- Most Outstanding Society: Turkish Society
- Collaboration of the Year: Women in STEM (Data Science, Hack Sussex, GRiCS, EinE and Robogals)
Our Societies Committee have been busy this past year, approving 21 new societies such as Decolonise Shakespeare who went on to organise a massively successful performance of Macbeth at the ACCA last term.
Sussex once again upheld their own in sport, with 8 teams winning their leagues and a fourth consecutive win at Varsity - an exciting 12-06 final score against Brighton. A testament to the strength and determination of all of our sports teams this year!
We’ve also seen wonderful religious & spiritual events such as Diwali and Holi organised by the South Asian Students’ Society light up our campus alongside many others.
I hope you were able to get involved with the lovely communities found amongst our student groups this past year, and if you’re feeling inspired go have a gander at the sports and societies page on the Students’ Union website for our full range of activities available.
