Matthew Sheeran, talented composer, Grammy-nominee and Sussex alumnus, has been announced as a guest speaker for this year's Undergraduate Showcase 2023!
The School of Media, Arts and Humanities Undergraduate Showcase is an annual event that celebrates the achievements of students from across various subjects within the School.
This year's Undergraduate Showcase will take place in the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts, inviting the wider community to view, interact with, and experience the student's creative projects. From captivating photography, to experimental video and thought-provoking soundscapes, the Showcase will feature work from a wide range of subjects and disciplines.
Among the guests in attendance will be Matthew Sheeran, an internationally-renowned composer. Matt graduated from the University of Sussex in 2010 with a BA in Music, and has gone on to lead a succesful career in composing. Matt's compositions span a diverse range of musical genres, and he has worked closely with various high-profile names – such as Stormzy, Taylor Swift, Nelly Furtardo, Andrea Bocelli, KT Tunstall, Dua Lipa and Lizzo.
Matt has also worked in collaboration with his brother, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, on various occasions. In 2017, Matt spent time arranging one of Ed's upcoming albums, and in 2021, Matt, Ed and singer Taylor Swift worked together to produce the hit song 'The Joker and The Queen.'
Join us in celebrating the incredible achievements of our students! The Undergraduate Showcase's opening night will take place on the 30 May; all are welcome, and there is no need to book.
Doors are open from 2pm, and Matt is expected to speak from around 6.15pm.
