Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sasha Roseneil, travelled to South East Asia, from 18 - 24 March, to meet with partners and alumni in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore to celebrate our international community and strengthen the University’s relationships in the region.
The visit centred around three receptions held in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Bangkok, Thailand. With a total of 250 alumni and partners attending, the events helped to further promote the University’s global standing and update attendees on the latest developments at Sussex.
In Bangkok, Sasha also visited Mahidol University, the top-ranking university in Thailand. The University of Sussex and Mahidol University have collaborated on research and teaching since 2015.
Sussex’s School of Global Studies and Mahidol’s Faculty of Social Science and Humanities launched the Sussex Mahidol Migration Partnership and the Europe-Asia Migration Network, led by Professor Paul Statham, in 2015.
Sussex students can visit Mahidol University through the International Junior Research Associate Scheme and the Turing Scheme.
Reinforcing our strong relationships with our South East Asian partners and alumni, the visit will help us to continue to deliver impactful research capable of building a better world.
The University of Sussex welcomes around 4,500 students from over 130 countries annually, and we have 330 academic partners in 60 countries. We’re a truly global university and, over the next year, our Vice-Chancellor will be visiting a number of countries to celebrate our international community and build on our existing relationships and partnerships.
