The Business School was delighted to present the New Business of the Year Award to Prsnt Ltd at The Gatwick Diamond Business Awards 2023, which took place at The Grand Hotel in Brighton on 23 March.
Hosted by comedian and actor Kerry Godliman, this year's awards evening began with a pre-dinner reception, sponsored by Castle Corporate Finance Ltd, followed by live music, a charity draw, as well as an after party, giving guests an opportunity to network and congratulate winners.
The Gatwick Diamond awards programme is a not-for-profit organization run by its members, celebrating a unique and diverse range of innovative companies and businesses from a variety of sectors.
Included in the categories this year, was the ‘2023 New Business of the Year award’, sponsored by the Business School. The winners of this category were app creators David Parr and Sussex Alum Omid Moallemi, founders of Prsnt Ltd, a sustainability focused app allowing users to send and share gifts directly from any smartphone.
The winners were selected by a team of 6 Business School students who applied to be on the judging panel, alongside External Engagement Manager Marcus Atkinson.
The two other finalists in this category were Mochara and AVPlacements.
Commenting on the winners, Business School External Engagement Manager, Marcus Atkinson said:
“Omid and David identified a great opportunity. They constructed a new business out of one simple idea and have created something that, to cut to the case, simply makes life better. Their clever app will change the way we send gifts, large and small. Behind one simple idea lies a great deal of careful thought, research, innovation, and continual improvement.”
As well as the Business School, other headline sponsors of the event included the University of Sussex, Elekta, Arora Group, Richard Place Dobson, EMW and Chichester College Group.
The Business School remains committed to working with businesses within the Gatwick Diamond economy.
