The Christmas break is fast approaching, and an editable greetings card is available for you to send to your own contacts. Here are a few reminders about the break.
Extra minimum service day – Thursday 22 December
Sussex staff have been given an additional minimum service day on Thursday 22 December 2022 in recognition of your hard work in helping the University to recover from the disruptions of Covid-19. If you are required to work that day, or wouldn’t normally be working that day, please arrange an alternative day off with your line manager. See full information and guidance.
Winter wellness
If you haven’t already had your flu vaccination this year, remember that the University will pay for jabs for those members of staff who don’t qualify for a free one. See more information on winter wellness and Covid-19 mitigations.
Wellbeing
Christmas can be a time of year when some staff may feel lonely or need some extra support. Help and guidance is available over Christmas and New Year if you need it. Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) telephone helpline can provide counselling and specialist advice on a range of matters 24/7, 365 days a year. Call the EAP helpline on 0800 316 9337. The Education support helpline also connects education staff to a qualified counsellor.
A comprehensive guide to mental health, counselling and peer support services in Brighton & Hove and across Sussex is also available on our Wellbeing Hub. This includes information for out-of-hours crisis services.
See what’s open on campus during the break
Various facilities are open during the Christmas break, some with different working hours.
