The University of Sussex Business School is excited to announce the launch of a new undergraduate opportunity, the Venture Creation Year.

The Venture Creation Year, delivered in partnership with Careers and Entrepreneurship, is an alternative to a placement year and open to all 2nd year undergraduate students for applications.

If you want to explore and develop your entrepreneurship skills, have a great business idea and the motivation to be your own boss, the Venture Creation Year will give you the practical skills you need to succeed.

With support from the University, you’ll set up and run your own startup or social enterprise and will have access to one-to-one coaching, specialist workshops, networking events and mentoring programmes, as well as other online resources.

Luke Mitchell, Entrepreneurship Manager said:

“This is an exciting new opportunity for students to explore entrepreneurship at the University of Sussex. We’ve seen so many Business School students engage with venture creation at Sussex, developing valuable skills as well as building viable start-ups. To be able to work with them so closely, through the structure of this innovative new alternative to a traditional placement year, is something we look forward to.”

Susan Smith, Associate Dean for Educations and Students at the University of Sussex Business School said:

“We're excited to be working with the Entrepreneurship team to offer students the opportunity to develop their own enterprise as part of their degree.”

There are a limited number of places available for students to start their Venture Creation Year in 2023/24. Applicants will be shortlisted to pitch their application to a panel in February, either online or in-person.
