Professor Richard Follett leaves Sussex for new role at the University of Exeter

Professor Richard Follett, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor and Associate Vice President (International), is leaving Sussex to take up a new role as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Global Engagement), at the University of Exeter.
Professor Follett has been at Sussex for 23 years and, for the past 10 years, he has led the University’s international activities worldwide and overseen a global network of education, research and knowledge-exchange partnerships.
Richard is also Professor of American History and a specialist on the history of African American slavery in the United States and Caribbean.
Vice-Chancellor, Sasha Roseneil said: “During his time as our Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor (International), Richard has contributed enormously to Sussex's global engagement and international profile. His leadership of our internationalisation strategy has been hugely successful, and he will be greatly missed. I wish him all the best for his new role at Exeter.”
Professor Follet said: “It has been an honour to work at such a wonderful University. Our colleagues and students are outstanding global citizens, and the University enjoys a high-profile presence in international education. Our commitment to establishing impactful global collaborations that add value for all our partners has been hugely rewarding to be part of.”
Richard takes up his position as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Global Engagement) at the University of Exeter, in January.
