The Buddy Scheme matches student volunteers from all walks of life with students who are new or may be struggling. It’s a student support scheme, run by the Students’ Union, and it’s free to be a part of. You can come along to wellbeing-focused events during term time, such as coffee and cake or walks together.
Buddy Scheme participants
The Buddy Scheme is a great way to make a new connection and find a friend. We match by your preferences – for example, school of study, or different student communities (such as LGBTQ+, students of colour, or disabled students) – to help you have something in common right away. Apply for a buddy.
Buddy Scheme volunteers
All volunteers are Sussex students, who dedicate an hour a week to their buddy to answer their questions, offer support and be a friend. Do you think you could help a new student settle in, or a struggling student find their feet? It can help you make friends and boost your CV! Apply to be a buddy.
